A jazz guitar studies, begun at the university of arts in Graz, including a semester abroad at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, completed at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich, a college degree in jazz musician and graduate jazz music teacher and postgraduate studies at the GIT in Los Angeles - Jan Zehrfelds academic vita is truly impressive. Since 2003, he has participated in numerous bands and productions (including with Klaus Doldinger, Uwe Ochsenknecht, the Hilliard Ensemble and the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra) as a sideman for high stylistic range - from metal to pop-rock, jazz fusion and experimental music. He also works as a guitar teacher at the Pop Academy Mannheim and the Music College Regensburg. The Freak Guitar Camp in Gothenburg, the GIT in Los Angeles and the Munich Guitar Institute MGI already welcomed him as a guest lecturer.

In 2004 he founded the band Panzerballett that he heads until today and creates all compositions and arrangements.The jazz-metal band has already gained a cult status worldwide in clubs and festivals, attended numerous television and radio appearances (WDR, ARTE, 3sat, BR, SR, SWR) and produced four studio albums and two live DVDs so far.

This workshop is held in German. It is parted in two parts.

Part I Guide to Fretboard Navigation on the rocky road to full view:
- intervals
- Scales of death to wellness (church modes, harmonic / melodic minor, symmetrical, various pentatonic)
- Akkordvoicings (especially 3- and 4- part, in conjunction with basics of harmony)
- Improvisation on continuous grooves and chord progressions

Part II Maybe you are not ready yet, but your grandchildren will dance on it.
In this part Jan discusses the most common tools of the 'art of Verkrassung' (phatting) which he already brought on paper for the magazine Guitar & Bass. The following topics are covered:
- Metric modulation
- Stereo 16th gears
- polyrhythms
- Novel quintuplets Grooves

Participants should be advanced, have several years of band experience, distinguish doric of aeolian, should be able to knock "3 to 4" without major problems and should be able to read music. You should be stylistically open to anything, have passion for funky rhythmic ideas and bring attention to detail.
